"How long to wait to avoid sniping own teammates?"

#PokemonGO: So, I make it a policy not to snipe a teammate prestiging up a gym because I know how frustrating it can be.I've watched gyms prestige up, and I sit and wait until someone places their pokemon and the prestiging up stops, then I go prestige it up myself and put my own guy in.Today I had a dilemma.Someone prestiged it up from 30,000 to 40,000, and then stopped, leaving an open spot.I waited 10 minutes.During that time there was no further movement on the gym prestige and the open spot just sat.So I took it at that point.Question: Were they prestiging it up with the intent for someone else to take the spot, maybe someone already in the gym wanting to build something that will last a few days?I can't imagine that if they wanted the spot for themselves, they would take that long (10 mins) to figure out how to place in a Pokemon. What's a good common courtesy wait time from when you see a free spot in a gym to when you drop in your Pokemon? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2ipoMrA
