Many years ago on my Pokemon Emerald save, I ran into a shiny Golbat. I was in Sky Pillar and all I had was one Master Ball. Since 8 year old me was a literal disappointment, I decided not to catch it because I thought Rayquaza was way more important. Fast forward ~10 years and I am in Verdant Cavern looking for the TM Thief (I still can't get a Razor Claw from those damn Jangmo-os FML) and I ran into a Zubat. At this point even running into Pokemon encounters made me angry (Those Jangmo-os had really irritated me before I realized I could SOS Chain for items). I almost ran away until I realized it was a green Zubat. I RAN INTO A SHINY ZUBAT! It was like RNGesus had given me a second chance after that shiny Golbat encounter years ago.
