"[Discussion] In Search of Advice due to Frustration"
#PokemonGO: Hello TSR,I would like to ask you people for advice and/or opinions because I have been very frustrated with the game lately. In Pokemon GO I am not the collector type. My interest lies with having a strong roster of Pokemon and take gyms.I am doing a Master's degree at a university and have a developer's job in IT, which pays my rent, food and tuition. Sadly that means on a weekday I have only one or two hours in the evening after work to play Pokemon GO. Thankfully I like taking walks, so even in the cold weather that is currently in Europe I still get out.At the moment I am losing motivation to keep going with Pokemon GO. My problem arises with the state of the teams at my location. It is a city with over 120.000 people and gyms are mostly populated with Mystic. There are Valor patches, however Instinct virtually doesn't exist. I have been all over town, there is not a single location that I can reach on an at least semi regular basis that is frequented by Instinct players.I live near the University, which has a gym that I can see from home. There are three other gyms in the vicinity. All are usually level 10 Mystic. Valor swoops in only if I take any of them down or randomly every two or three weeks, other than that they are stale. I take down the university gym when I can summon the motivation to stand an hour in the cold, but it's usually blue again within an hour and high level in the next two days.I feel like I utilize what I have with maximum efficiency. Do not use many revives as I swap Pokemon before they faint, use type advantage and dodge and use Pokemon that do the job fast. However my highest Pokemon is at 2800 CP and my top twelve average 2300 CP.Currently it seems I am done. It's just a pointless task. I go through ten level gyms just to get 10 coins, while blue players just have the money ticking in. It feels like falling behind all the time. On top of all I find the fighting mechanics too simplistic and dull.I guess all I wanted to ask is, how would one go about this? I really want to like the game but the team balance frustrates me greatly. Playing one of the handheld editions is of no interest to me. I thought about appealing for a team switch, even though those seem to no longer go through. Thought about starting a new account and sit in another team, but having put in all the work I don't want to start over. There are some strategies out there, but I am outnumbered too bad. Even when I level up a gym after taking it, it's the rarest case that another Instinct player joins in.Supposedly the options are, either uninstall, which will make me sad, or keep waiting for some Niantic update that may never come that will fix the balancing. Taking a break occurred to me, but then coming back probably won't happen, as I then feel I fell behind. What would you guys suggest? Are some if you in a similiar position? Right now I am pissed off at Niantic for their decisions in game design, lack off communication and updates. Frustration is the best word to describe it.I realize this is a dedicated community, I hope this post's intent is within community guidelines. Thanks via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2k1bJ3D
