"r/Pokemongo, it’s time we had a chat: upcoming changes for the benefit of our community."

#PokemonGO: TL;DR:From this point forward we will be issuing immediate temporary bans to users who cannot be civil towards others(with repeat offenses receiving additional bans of increased length). If your post does not meet the minimum character limit of 150 characters(roughly 35 words), automod will remove the post and give you this nice little message “We appreciate you sharing your post, but maybe you could expand more on what you are trying to say. Or perhaps your post really belongs in one of the stickied daily threads?"Screenshot posts (during screenshot weekend) containing vulgar appraisals, 420/666/whatever else meme cp number jokes, pokemon that look like they're having sex, and the tiny pokemon glitch will be removed.Hello r/pokemongo, we hope you’re having a good day. We’re coming to you all today to talk about our community. We’ve always felt that you guys and gals are great. You’ve brought us tales of joy and self-improvement, great ideas, great discussions and overall just a great atmosphere for enjoying a simple game known as Pokemon GO. We’ve been with you through all the ups and downs, and will continue to do so because we are a community. But because we are a community we have to address some issues that we’ve been noticing.First and foremost is the issue of toxicity and civility. It’s no secret that our subreddit has a reputation for being toxic. At best we are viewed as Niantic hate circle-jerk, at our worst…cancer. In regards to toxicity, we thought that the sub might sort itself and would require minimal input from our team( removing uncivil comments for example). As time passed, we noticed nothing was changing; it seemed as though our rules regarding civility were being overlooked. We believe(and hope that you do as well) that it is okay to attack an idea that is presented, however it is not okay to attack the user presenting the idea. So from this point forward we will be issuing immediate temporary bans to users who cannot be civil towards others(with repeat offenses receiving additional bans of increased length). It is our hope that by removing these elements from the subreddit, things will be less toxic.Second, we will be making two changes to address issues of low effort content constantly being submitted to the sub. Our first change revolves around low effort self posts. Often times you’ll see self posts that are barely a sentence long, and have no purpose. An example would be, as some of you have put it, “crappy idea posts or posts that ask for free stuff” where the entirety of the idea is posted in the title, or as a short 5 word sentence in the body of the text. To try and remedy this problem we will be using automod to enforce a minimum character limit for self posts. If your post does not meet the minimum character limit of 150 characters(roughly 35 words), automod will remove the post and give you this nice little message “We appreciate you sharing your post, but maybe you could expand more on what you are trying to say. Or perhaps your post really belongs in one of the stickied daily threads?" The purpose of this change is to try to encourage posts that promote discussion, rather than posts that serve only to clutter the subreddit. Our next change regarding low effort content involves screenshots. No, screenshot weekend is not going away. However during screenshot weekend, there will be some increased moderation during that time. Screenshot posts (during screenshot weekend) containing vulgar appraisals, 420/666/whatever else meme cp number jokes, pokemon that look like they're having sex, and the tiny pokemon glitch will be removed. Screenshot weekend was intended to allow users to freely share their catches and experiences, but quickly became plagued with low effort content that’s been around since the game’s release. Thank you for sticking with us. Feel free to discuss these changes below, and to ask us questions.~Pokemon Go Mod Team via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2kptoPQ
