"Credit where it's due: the movesets are much better balanced now."

#PokemonGO: Having done some damage plots, and having done some field testing to confirm that I am no "spreadsheet warrior" I would have to offer the following conclusion.Movesets are WAY better balanced now.most sets are within +/-20% of 20dps That's less than the difference SE/NVE makes, so there is pretty much always a reason that a "non best" moveset is worth using.Every charge move does more DPS than the best quick move. There are no circumstances where "just spam quick move" is better. (Even legacy Bite/twister gyarados, despite how it's still pretty awful)there's a a general trend that the slower moves pack the biggest punch. So there's a trade-off between maximising DPS as a slugger with something like confusion, or having more dodge capabilities with something faster (like psycho cut or Zen headbutt).there's a general trend that dual type stuff gets moves of that type, rather than it being just a vulnerability. E.G. Poliwrath, Dragonite, exeggcutor, lapras. (They are lagging a bit on some of the rock types still though)entirely improved Fighting to be worth using. (I really need a Machamp now)generally increased the diversity of strong attackers and prestigers, because a good type matchup is generally better than just having something good in the first place. (Vaporeon is still good, it's just no longer "replace everything else" good)made the 3+ bar moves not suck. They may be lower DPS (but not by much), but make up for it in damage to energy ratio. So over the course of a fight, there's very solid reasons to prefer each, and you generally don't lose out hugely. There are considerably fewer examples of 'screwed by bad typing' Slowbro with Ice Beam isn't losing out massively (even before you look at type advantages). If you square off a Rhyhorn then Megahorn - whilst it's -behind- isn't actually so far behind that with a SE bonus to make up for not having STAB, it's still rubbish. (It's faster and higher DPS than a neutral typed Earthquake would be). Alakazam with Shadow Ball doesn't egregiously suck and neither does Gengar with Focus Blast. (Also applies to: Ice Beam/Megahorn/Shadow Ball/Focus Blast/Dragon Pulse/Dragon Claw/Wild Charge you'll see the same thing. There's very few things that are high tier and STAB that get them)So I really like it. Good show. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2lsXBQx
