#PokemonGO: I know many people haven't gotten the Plus. If not, please ignore this, or read for when you do get one. I tried, to no avail, finding resources to help with issues I was having, so I am putting this here with the hope that it will help someone with their issues, or provide insight others might find useful.Note: I use Android. This may not all be true for iOS. Also, if anybody has anything to contribute, please make it clear in the comments. All info here is anecdotal, but thus far has remained valid without fail, despite many tests and experiences for each point.A. ConnectivityYou've had issues with your Plus connecting. Try these steps to get it connected, making sure it is first recognized and connected in your phone's Bluetooth menu:Open PoGo and hit the on-screen button immediately after hitting your Plus buttonHit the eject button in the Plus' settings, then try to reconnect a minute or so laterUnpair your device completely (in your phone's Bluetooth and on the Plus), then re-pair and try againIf all these fail, you'll likely get either "Failed to communicate with Pokémon go Plus" or something to that tune. At this point restart your device, and start at 1 again.B. UseWhat can your Plus do? Quite a bit.It tracks your distance while your device sleeps or is engaging other apps, and it will notify you of nearby Pokémon or stops. Note: It DOES NOT track distance if you leave your phone on a table while you prance around your house. Your phone is the GPS beacon, the Plus just tells it to stay on.It DOES detect Pokémon at highway speeds, as I will regularly get Pokémon to and from work at speeds up to 70mphIt DOES sometimes get stops at the same speed, but might not due to lagIt DOES catch ditto, it will not tell you what it appeared as, thoughIt benefits from incense, especially while movingIt differentiates between losing connection to the device (rapid buzzing and red lights) and the device losing network (one long red buzz). It has seals inside to protect the innards, so a small splash will be OK, but do NOT scuba dive for a Staryu with it.It will continue to detect Pokémon and stops while spinning a stop, evolving, and browsing menus. It will not allow catching or spinning while engaged with a gym or wild Pokémon. If your bag is full, it will alert you of failure to gather items, then detect the stop again a few seconds later. Empty your bag (by using or trashing items) to resume normal play.It can get you eggs from stops, and will notify you with an extra vibrationIt will vibrate once for each item gathered. 3 items = 3 buzzes, 4 items = 4 buzzes, etc.C. IssuesThe Plus has some lag issues. It will sometimes take a moment to detect a stop or Pokémon, and will often not activate for a Pokémon while the screen is on, but will when the screen is turned off.It will disconnect from the phone more periodically than it is apparently supposed to.Sometimes it will activate for a nearby Pokémon that is not visible on-screen. It might subtract a Pokeball if it runs, but it definitely will if it is caught. It will always award EXP, however.D. Trainer TipsDo not try to double dip. It won't work with stops, period, but will freeze your game with Pokémon. Hitting the button, then encountering the same Pokémon is double dipping. If you catch it or it runs with the Plus, it will break out of your first ball and run, leaving no loading icon, no dialogue box, and no buttons to hit. Just restart the app.It counts the Pokémon as caught or lost almost immediately, so watching the "recent" tab will tell you if you caught it, and you can see it subtracting a Pokéball after the first white buzz.Hitting your Plus while it is connected will result in a quick vibration. Use this to check if it is connected without pulling out your phone.Item management is key. My bag is as follows:Potions×0Super potions×0Hyper potions×100Max potions×100Revives×100Great balls×150Ultra balls×200Berries×20Lucky eggs, lures, incense, and incubators are without preset limits, but I stay around 300 Pokéballs, and throw away any excess. If you're trying to justify it to someone who just doesn't "get it," the Plus' primary use appears to be for times when pulling out your phone is not an option, and it gives the player a chance to catch a Pokémon they would have otherwise not even known about. That is what it is for: a CHANCE. I'd rather trade a Pokeball to possibly catch whatever is there, than not have the chance to catch it at all.Running low on Pokéballs? Turn off Pokémon encounters and only have it activate for stops! Bag full, but cant throw anything away? Turn off stops so you can use up some Pokéballs without it buzzing for stops every few seconds!Only use Great and Ultra balls when playing manually; save the others for the Plus.Your Plus is very customizable. I gave mine a genuine leather 1.5" band with metal snaps to replace the flimsy band it came with, and there are many places you can purchase vinyl decals for it in varying designs and colors.Hope this helps someone! Grammar, spelling, and format issues are as important to me as the content :) via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2l1F0sk
