"Alternate theory on Unown. Unown Shortage made to increase the success of the next Halloween event."

#PokemonGO: The Unown shortage in pokemon go is too Unatural. To put this in perspective, dratini has a maximum 25% encounter rate in Pokemon red, and can ONLY be encountered on a few specific tiles. Aside from the safari zone, you can only get dratini in the rocket corner. Unown, however, has a 100% encounter rate inside the Ruins of Alph, with many more tiles to enounter them on. You can't get them anywhere else.So the question is, why is this novalty pokemon 15x rarer than dratini's fully evolved form, dragonite, in pokemon go?/u/Necr0maNc3R made an interesting point that Unown may have a boosted spawn rate at legendary events, in order to entertain and keep players constantly engaged. However, I think theres another reason why Niantic wants Unown to be rare, and thats for it's global events. From what we've seen, Niantic makes a lot of cash during those events, especially during the Halloween one.The Halloween Event was the most popular event, not only giving double candy but drastically increasing the spawn rates of "spooky" pokemon like ghastly and it's evolution line. It really helped players fill up their pokedex. However, halloween is months away, and with what we saw from the valentines day event, players will already have lots of the pokedex completed by that time, making the need for capturing some of these pokemon obsolete. The only thing that somewhat saved the valenties day event (despite the biome-lock the event had) was the unholy spawn rates of previously stupidly rare pokemon, like porygon, chancey, and lickitung.Seeing that a simmilar situation may play out months from now, it's not hard to believe that niantic intentionally sabotaged the spawn rate of this spooky pokemon to ensure a healthy event later in the year (and hopefully it won't be biome locked like valentines day).Imagine all the hype that would build. Months pass of players being unable to find this Extremely elusive Pokemon, talking about this "Unown" pokémon thats 15x rarer than Dragonite, then having them swarm the earth on Halloween! It would really draw in players to participate, not to mention make niantic boat loads of money.Of course, this is just pure speculation. But I'm fairly confident that Unown will have increased spawns on halloween, seeing that its 100% a spookey pokemon. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2mHiMNx
