"Gen-2 biomes don't necessarily match Gen-1 biomes?"

#PokemonGO: Summary: My local biome study shows one Gen-1 biome shows differences in Gen-2 spawns. In part of the studied area, Hoothoot and Ledyba were rare, while they were common in the main area. Background: When Gen-2 dropped, I decided to document my local biomes near home, work, and other places I visit regularly. After 30 days, I looked at my results, and observed that our local "Meadow" biome was really two, with the differences only in Gen-2 spawns.Data:Main local biome, 24 spawn points scattered across 4 square miles, all spawn points show roughly the same distribution, includes areas near 3 gyms and 4 Pokestops, no known nests:N=1,751 observationsRattata 202 11.5%Pidgey 191 10.9%Sentret 148 8.5%Ledyba 145 8.3%Spinarak 129 7.4%Venonat 116 6.6%Weedle 108 6.2%Eevee 104 5.9%Hoothoot 88 5.0%Murkrow 82 4.7%Swinub 64 3.7%Teddiursa 51 2.9% Nothing else over 2%New biome, 5 spawn points, "West Papio Bicycle Trail" along west edge of above area, 1 gym and 2 Pokestops in the area, no known nests. Part of this (3 spawn points) is colored as a small park on the PoGo map, the other two aren't:N=345 observations:Rattata 55 15.9%Sentret 34 9.9%Pidgey 33 9.6%Spinarak 21 6.1%Venonat 20 5.8%Weedle 20 5.8%Eevee 20 5.8%Murkrow 17 4.9%Swinub 14 4.1%Teddiursa 12 3.5%Paras 11 3.2%Ledyba 8 2.3% Nothing else over 2%(Hoothoot 3 0.9%)Methodology: Old fashioned, hand-tallied data from my own wandering. 30-day period from 2/16 (6 PM local time) to 3/18 (6 PM local time). Only included visible spawns on my screen where I could see the actual point where they spawned. No items from "Sightings" or "Nearby" were included. Results from spawn points with insufficient spawns to show a statistically significant pattern (less than 40) were not included. Results from outside the "Gen-1 meadow biome" were not included. These biomes always appeared to be the same. It wasn't until I looked at my data this weekend that I noticed that Ledyba and Hoothoot were not spawning as often in part of the area, by a factor of about 4.I have seen posts that dispute which biomes contain certain Gen-2 mons. If Gen-2 biomes do not necessarily align with Gen-1 biome, both sides could be correct. Based on my data, I expect that there are many more biomes than we know, and that more will be identified. We may not even notice some differences until future generations are released.Does anyone else have better data that can support or disprove the theory that Gen-2 biomes do not always match Gen-1 biomes? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2nGviND
