"Gyms getting reduced to Level 1, 1000 prestige all round town. What could possibly be the motivation for this?"

#PokemonGO: In our town there is someone going round constantly taking every red gym (and only red gyms) down to level 1 with 1000 prestige and just leaving them in that state. This of course makes it very hard to train them back up again especially if the Pokemon left in the gym is (simply as an example) a CP 10 Weedle as so often happens (gyms change over frequently here so people just put junkers in very often).
