"The key to taking down Level 10 gyms: Be the martyr"

#PokemonGO: Yes I've seen all the posts about people hating how their neighborhoods are dominated by a different team or even their own team. If it's their own team sometimes it's spoofers who sort of blacklist everyone else while they monopolize all the resources with their 3k+ Snorlaxes and Dragonites.I get it, it is annoying indeed. But this post hopefully will have nothing to do with that.This post is simply about how to kill those pesky level 10 gyms in your area. And the answer is even more simple.Be the martyr.Somebody has to start the process. Somebody has to bring others to the fight.A level 10 gym that is sitting at 52,000/50,000 prestige with a lineup that is something like Gyarados/Snorlax/Vaporeon/Blissey/Snorlax/Gyarados/Gyarados/Rhydon/Snorlax/Dragonite is something that people just don't want to mess with. In my particular neighborhood, all the gyms are dominated by Team Mystic. As such, I often see Team Valor and Team Instinct fighting for scraps. Whenever one team does manage to take a gym, it doesn't get to level 4 before the other kills it because it's the low-hanging fruit.But I've found that people will come out and join you in the fight to killing that ferocious Level 10 gym if they start to see it as an attainable goal.I live in the northern midwest and yesterday was cold as hell (Not a great analogy because hell is supposedly very hot), but I stood outside dropping a Level 10 gym from 51,000/50,000 to 21,000/30,000. By then a lot of my Pokemon were dead and my fingers were soon to follow.The strategy there is that it not only makes it look a lot more appealing for people of both my team and Team Instinct to carry on the fight, but it also looks UNappealing for Team Mystic folks who want to build it back up. There's a 2700 Snorlax at the bottom of it and it's 9,000 away from opening up a new slot.Anyway, that's the strategy I've used in my Mystic-dominated neighborhood.Start the resistance and others will join you. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2lCV9Dz
