"What's a solo player's place in the current gym meta?"

#PokemonGO: Just found out that the two gyms near my house were raided by a group of high level Instinct players and are now full of maxed out Snorlaxes, Vaporeons, Rhydons and in one gym, 3 Blisseys, one of which is 3000+ CP! This group is very strong and have claimed almost all of the gyms in my area and miles and miles further off. Two gyms that they couldn't seem to get were the two gyms near my house because Valor and some Mystic players (including myself) have been defending them. Today, they finally got them and it seems there are here to stay. Before this, the two gyms were lvl 10 Valor gyms (they used to be Mystic gyms until Mystic players stopped playing), which I've been trying to take down day after day. I used try to kick out 1 or 2 defenders a day, not only because I don't have much time but also because the place where the nearest gyms is, is an intersection of two small roads with very little space for parking, people constantly passing by and I feel uncomfortable standing there for several minutes by a virtual gym and I sometimes get those suspecting looks from people. But I love battling gyms! So despite being a minority, despite being a low level player, despite playing solo and with no help from fellow teammates, I continued battling those two Valor gyms. I was already happy whenever I kicked defenders out, and was hoping one day I'd be able to take them down. But my dreams were shattered today. I almost cried when I saw those three Blisseys (2822, 2830, 3050). I know I have no way of defeating them. Here's hoping that Valor players would come together to retake the gyms. But from what I know, they're also solo players like me, but at least they're still active. But my questions now are:Why does Niantic allow a player to put as many pokemons as he wants in gyms even if he can just claim rewards for 10 gyms? This only leads to a group of players dominating a huge area, and giving weaker players no chance of enjoying this part of the game.Niantic has plans to revamp gyms but it likely means that team play is going to be really important. But is this the right direction to take? The game has a huge percentage of casual and solo players. Although I like the idea of team play, it simply wouldn't work for the majority of the players. In the long run, only those who have friends to play with could enjoy AND dominate the game, and the others are forced to quit. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2mUjzx2
