"Stories from a Park Ranger"

#PokemonGO: I work as a park ranger in a state park that contains 4 Pokemon gyms and a handful of stops. I'm a lvl 34 Instinct player that has been playing since launch with a large break during the fall-winter content slump. The 4 gyms and stops are very spread out, and when I first started playing, I would work on maintaining these gyms during lunch and after work before I went home. To me, it was like a role-playing game; I was the park ranger keeping the local gyms safe from intruders. Fun! Most of the visitors to the park during those early days were not picnickers and campers, but people driving slowly with their heads in their phones. In fact, much of my job then involved giving warnings to individuals operating motor vehicles while playing Pokemon GO. I myself always took my bike out after work to retake/maintain the gyms. The GO players eventually lessened, but I noticed that the gyms would still change hands when I could have sworn that nobody had entered the area.In any case, fast forward to winter when our hours shorten and half of the park is closed due to the roads becoming very icy, muddy, and dangerous. 1 of the 4 gyms is in that part of the park and, when I went to close that area off, I made sure to take the gym first (why wouldn't I?)Now, here comes the part that everyone is probably expecting; I have watched this gym exchange hands and become level 10 for both red and blue while this area has been completely inaccessible; one can see the gym from the locked gates, but it would be very difficult to actually get there, especially without me noticing. Even I wouldn't be able to get there unless I wanted to go on foot in freezing temperatures, slipping on ice. So, unless 10 people have somehow been sneaking under my nose, ice skating to the gym to prestige it, and sneaking back out, I believe there may be some sort of foul play involved. So that's it, that's my Pokemon GO experience as a park ranger. Even I can't manage to keep the gyms as one of the only human beings present in the park. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2mdUE3t
