"The results are in- here's the relationship between your latitude location and how many ice-type pokemon you encounter [CHART]"

#PokemonGO: From this thread. I charted the results for total caught vs ice type caught and it looks like this-http://imgur.com/gallery/HWLPTThe horizonal axis shows latitude locations by degrees north. For reference 31 degrees is around the Florida/Alabama border, Toronto (just north of mainland US) is around 43 degrees and central Alaska is around 64. The vertical axis shows how many ice-type pokemon various silphroaders have reported catching per 100 catches at those latitudes.-correlation was initially strong at 0.77, but weakened to 0.6 due to some high catch rates for people in Southern canada. It seems like once you get that far north the ice-type catch rate just turns into "a lot". Another source of error was people who packed in the Swinubs during the Gen 2 launch.-for people living between 30-34 degrees north (maybe central florida - LA range), ice-type catch rates were pitiful, about 0.35 per 100 on average. And people reported most of those were from nests or special events.-between 35-37-ish (around Kentucky?), rates went up a bit to 0.6 per 100 on average.-between 40-50 degrees north (northern states /southern Canada) the rate jumps to 2.5 per 100 on average.-above that the rate climbs to about 3 per 100 on average. Highest rate reported in this data set was 5.2 catches per 100 at 53 degrees north, parallel to around northern British Columbia / South Alaska. After that rates remain high, but the correlation gets less consistent. Someone at the 69th parallel had an ice catch of "only" 3.7, for example. So there you have it. What inspired this was a report from /u/ben_13 in London, Ontario (42nd parallel) that Lapras were significantly more common there than Snorlax. If you're a pokemon go fanatic and want something to counter all the dragonites in the gyms it might be worth your while to take a road trip to southern Canada. I hear it's lovely in the summer. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2pN4Ciw
