"Theory about "new" Pokémon"

A lot of people like to joke that the new Pokémon in every gen were "newly discovered". That in a span of 20+ years we've gone from 150 to 700+.Well, I don't necessarily think that's how it is. Keep in mind the protagonists of the games are between 10-15 years old. Many of them know basic/popular Pokémon. Much like how the average 10 year old knows what a kangaroo is but would less likely know what a hagfish is. Same thing. A kid in Sinnoh maybe heard about Pumpkaboo and that it's a Kalolan cousin of his pet Snover, but he wouldn't know what it is until he traveled or got one in a trade. Or even the Pokémon of their regions. I highly doubt a ten year old girl in Kanto would know every single Pokémon in the region including swarms (Mawile, Combee). What'd you guys think? via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2rC0NJR
