"New egg tiers a win for trainers!"

#PokemonGO: So recently it was made known by the Silph Research Group here that egg rarity tiers have changed yet again. The major changes include the reclassification of Dratini and Pineco from common (8/315) to Uncommon (4/257), and the elimination of 6 species. At first glance, overall I was a little bummed that Dratini was getting a slight nerf in hatch rate, but now I believe this change is a huge win for trainers for a few reasons.1) No one wanted more of those 6 species anyway. I know I died a little each time I walked 5 km just to hatch another Psyduck or Paras.2) Now, even though Dratini went from a 2.5% hatch rate to 1.6%, Pineco did the same, sure, but what about the rest of the pokemon that didn't "change tiers"? That's what's being underreported here. The effective hatch rates of every other 10km possibility actually rose by a fair amount due to the consolidation, as did 5 km and 2 km. For instance, the odds of your next egg being a Snorlax were 0.31%, the new odds are 0.39%, which is not a negligible increase (25% increase!). Mareep has also moved up from 0.63% to 0.77%.3) The best part: If you desperately need candy for 1 or 2 specific pokemon, you're in luck! Let's say you need to add to that Blissey candy stash and an event of some sort starts (that doesn't impact egg odds, so let's say gives double candy). You furiously pop eggs in 8 extra incubators to take advantage. When you go to pick up eggs from stops for that process, you now have a 6.8% chance of getting & hatching at least 1 Chancey in your first batch, and a 19% chance of hatching at least one over the lifespan of those incubators. Previously, those odds were 5.6% and 15.8% respectively. Apply the same differences to a massive candy requirement like Mareep candy for an Ampharos, and this change could be a life saver during the next double candy event; perhaps the difference in earning 0 and earning 80+ candy, even, depending on the # of eggs hatched. Not to bad considering these pokemon "weren't affected" by the tier change.TL;DR: egg tier changes have gotten a lot of coverage for the pokemon moving/being removed from egg tiers, but the effect on the pokemon that "didn't change" may be the best part of the change for most trainers. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2qJcfTX
