"Nostalgia and expectations can be destructive"
I'm a big Diamond & Pearl fan - it's the very first game I imported, and among my favorites overall. And that OST? Woof. I'll admit, I expected Diamond & Pearl remakes to be announced yesterday, like everyone else. But instead, we got something a lot better - new games. In a franchise that's so oversaturated with remakes and ports, we got something new. Don't take that for granted! Game Freak could've easily fallen back into the lousy third-entry formula that they (thankfully) abandoned after Platinum, but they knew better. They knew that direct sequels are inherently more interesting and exciting, even if it causes discourse. You got Stars. Actually, you got something better than Stars - but you're allowing the platform it's on to stop you from being excited for it. Do you realize how shallow that is? You've been enjoying Pokémon on handhelds for over a decade, that doesn't need to stop now. Also, as a Sinnoh nerd I understand your frustration, but at the end of the day you're writing off brand new games for old ones. That's when you know nostalgia has taken you too far.I know that it's fairly typical for expectations to lead gamers astray, but I'm particularly annoyed and disappointed with the Pokémon fandom right now. It might not be exactly what you wanted , but that doesn't make it bad - celebrate USUM, celebrate Pokkén, and stop looking back all the time. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2qW7h6a
