"A cool story about raids bringing people together."

#PokemonGO: So tonight while on my way home from work i was making my rounds to local pokestop hot spots and parks, stocking up on items and catching whatever i can in hopes of a double XP event tomorrow. Well i decided to drive to a local park which is a Horsea nest and stock up on some Horsea's to work toward my Kingdra. While there i noticed a level 4 raid egg that was about to pop, so i stick around for the 15 minutes to see what hatches.Lo and behold a Tyranitar pops! I have already done about 5 Tyranitar raids with no luck of catching any of them. I also already used my daily free raid pass this morning on a level 2 Koffing raid. I figure, ill pass this one up, id rather see if we get new raid bosses swapped out tomorrow, besides theres no one around so id have to post in a couple different places to get people to come. Then i see this van pull up and this boy gets out around 7-10 yrs old. He takes off running to the Tyranitar, like a child on christmas morning. I decide ill get out of my truck and see if he truly is trying to do this raid solo, and sure enough he is. His dad asked if i was going to try to fight the Tyranitar and i told him its next to impossible with just 2 people but ill try to bring in some back up. So i called the calvary in.Between my local facebook group post and my slack app post people started flooding in. This kid was so excited that so many people were coming. He told me he tried to do one yesterday but didnt stand a chance and ended up wasting his raid pass. As people were coming he noticed a lady that had helped him do a Machamp raid a few days before and he caught the Machamp! After about 30 minutes we had almost 40 people there, we had to split into 2 groups to do the raid and it was totally awesome to see how happy this kid was that all these people came to help. I dont know if he caught his Tyranitar as it was a bit crowded and i was busy trying to catch mine (which i did, finally), but i know i made this kids day by a couple simple posts and thats all that matters. So shout out to Niantic for these raids, because they really can and do bring people together. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2sPr0EG
