"For eggs, the change in distance isn't the most important thing"

#PokemonGO: So, others have discovered that the Pokémon that can hatch from the different types of eggs has changed. u/Dudleyshwam has been compiling the changes over here. People have voiced excitement/disappointment about different species moving between the 2k, 5k, and 10k pools. However, it seems to me that the distance of egg a Pokémon can hatch from is less relevant than the probability each species has of being in any given egg you receive from a Pokéstop. For those who haven't seen it, the Silph Road research team showed here that each pokemon species has a hidden rarity deciding how likely they are to be found in eggs.In my opinion, the relevant thing is how easy it will be for me to hatch a Tyrogue, Porygon, etc., not whether they will arrive in a 2k, 5k, or 10k egg.
