"I loved the social aspect of my first level-four raid experience"

#PokemonGO: I'm a solo rural player. I went into town yesterday to look for some raids. I saw a level four counting down at a small park. Four kids (probably around 6th grade) were sitting on the grass there. I asked them if they were waiting for the raid. They said they were. Then I told them they shouldn't talk to strangers. They were suitably amused. I saw a woman nearby, on a bench. She was also waiting for the raid. Two more people showed up -- a young man, and a guy around my age (I'm 63) or a bit younger (I suck at guessing ages), who I learned was a chemistry teacher. He and I were level 35. The kids were in the mid teens, I believe. The woman was around level 20, and said it was her first raid. I think the young man was level 29. A Venusaur hatched. We fought, but timed out. Everyone patiently waited while we all got ready. We fought again. It was closer. Thinking about what I'd learned on TSR, I asked if people were dodging. They were. I suggested we try a round with no dodging. That worked. We won. It was just so much fun to meet up with a diverse group and battle a boss together. As much as I miss prestiging, I've met more players in the past two weeks than I met the whole time before the gym change. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2uSi8zK
