"Tip: Don't underestimate type bonuses (Level 20 Machamp > Level 30 Vaporeon vs Tyranitar)"

#PokemonGO: As we all (hopefully) know, Tyranitar has a double weakness to Fighting which means Fighting Type moves will do almost twice (1.96x) the damage of moves with no type advantage. This bonus is really significant, and to help explain with a clear example we will compare with Vaporeon which I see a lot of players using against Tyranitar. Vaporeon is still super effective against Tyranitar (Water > Rock) but damage is only boosted by 1.4.I have simulated some results comparing a level 20 Machamp with a level 30 Vaporeon using PokeBattler, assuming you are able to dodge special moves perfectly (more on this later). Results vs Tyranitar Raid BossAttacking PokémonPokémon LevelTime to WinPokémon RequiredVaporeon30598.68Machamp20434.916Time to Win: Shows the amount of time it would take for the Pokemon to win. 2 seconds is added for each time the pokemon feinted.Pokémon Required: The number of identical Pokémon required to beat the raid boss. What this shows is that level 20 Machamp with Counter and Dynamic Punch will do more damage in the same amount of time as a level 30 Vaporeon with Hydro Pump. The obvious downside is that level 20 Machamps are not as bulky as level 30 Vaporeons, so your Pokémon will die more quickly and you will need to use more potions and revives. For a more realistic example, let's assume we have 4 players fighting a Tyranitar with two lineups:All players use level 30 Vaporeons, they beat the boss in ~150 seconds and have only needed to use 3 of their own Vaporeons. All players use level 20 Machamps, they beat the boss in ~110 seconds and have used 5 of their Machamps.Again, this assumes you will dodge all special moves perfectly, which is never the case. Realistically, you will probably lose all of your Machamps and most of your Vaporeons. However, I am not suggesting to use a team of level 20 Machamps, just that you can safely use some level 20 Machamps in your line ups instead of level 30 Vaporeons or Dragonites.TL;DR: You don't need to power up all of your Machamps for them to be useful in Raids. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2trLpSm
