The gym they were defending was taken over, so they should be trying to get it back, not just standing on the sidelines.Their CP would be reflective of what it was based on motivation, so this would incentivize players to feed berries to keep good defenders in top shape so if a raid shows up, they have a little extra help. It also would make players want to leave defenders that would have an advantage against the legendary you want to fight.Essentially, as it would have to go through all 6 pokemon, it would be like having an extra player, making it a little easier for rural players to get raids done, as one person can make the difference in those cases.
