"Raids made me realize that even though I'm level 37.5, I'm still just a casual player"

#PokemonGO: I've been playing the game since the first week of release almost two hours a day and always though I was on the "hardcore" side of the player base. I own a GO+ (two actually since I modded the first one), track IV and move sets for my top pokemon, keep up with all the latest news on the subreddits, etc. With the release of raids I've started to realize that I'm actually just a casual player compared to a lot of the players lower level than I am.My two hours of daily playtime are almost exclusively from walking the dog in the morning and afternoon. On my walks I pass 30+ pokestops and catch dozens of pokemon to stock up on stardust, candy and exp. I might play a little in between or at work but it doesn't make up a significant portion of my playtime. The release of raids made me realize that even though I'm consistently the highest level in nearby gyms there's a lot more players that are willing to go out of their way to complete legendary raid while I just can't be bothered to play outside my daily routine. I enjoy playing Pokemon GO when walking the dog because it's a fun way to kill time when otherwise I might get lazy or bored and cut the walk short.Since the release of legendary raid's I've completed a total of four raids. Three of the raids were completed by timing my dog walks with raids that popped up on my normal route and was successful catching one Lugia (0/2 on two Articuno). The fourth raid was the last day for Articuno when I desperately wanted to catch one before they rotated. I coordinated with a local discord group and drove to the nearest raid. I didn't catch the Articuno so I might be biased but I didn't enjoy the experience one bit. Trying to coordinate start time with dozens of other people, driving around only to show up late, it just didn't feel fun. I didn't bother trying to drive to any other raids that day and never managed to catch an Articuno. The whole experience made me realize that even though I'm one of the highest levels in my area, I'm just another casual player who's OK with missing out on content if it isn't easily accessible. The highlight was the third raid when we were waiting for people to show up and discussing success/fail rates for the legendary raids. I was the only one who hadn't caught a legendary yet (0/2) while multiple people had 2+. Shortly after we created the lobby, I joined and someone says "woah who's level 37?". The next highest level was 34... I think the game felt bad for me because I managed to catch the Lugia with a critical catch on my first throw.edit: Glad to see I'm not alone and there's other high levels who feel the same way :) via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2vmcut6
