"[Update] Legendary Raid Survey Results"

#PokemonGO: Greetings, fellow travelers!Thank you to everyone who participated in the survey! There were 3,563 valid responses and some interesting results, which I have compiled, analyzed, and put into chart form for your viewing pleasure.Note: If you were the person who claimed to have caught 99 of 99 Lugia and 77 of 77 Moltres and Zapdos, your responses were excluded from the results because I don't believe you—those numbers are outlandish. PM me screenshot proof and I'll add your responses back in. TotalsHere are the totals, for both raids won and Pokemon caught, broken down by legendary.Raids WonCaughtSuccess RateArticuno23,83711,60648.69%Moltres23,86212,15050.92%Zapdos26,47617,46865.98%Lugia23,13810,68046.16%TOTAL97,31351,90453.34% Average per PlayerHere are averages per player, for both raids won and Pokemon caught, broken down by legendary.Raids WonCaughtArticuno6.693.26Moltres6.703.41Zapdos7.434.90Lugia6.493.00TOTAL27.3116.47 Raids Won, by PokemonBox-and-whisker plotMomentsMeanStDevnArticuno6.697.243,563Lugia3.006.833,563Moltres6.707.353,563Zapdos7.438.653,563Percentiles0%10%50%90%100%Articuno0.000.005.0015.0078.00Lugia0.001.005.0014.0067.00Moltres0.000.005.0015.0093.00Zapdos0.001.005.0017.00103.00 Caught, by PokemonBox-and-whisker plotMomentsMeanStDevnArticuno3.264.413,563Lugia3.003.873,563Moltres3.414.373,563Zapdos4.906.383,563Percentiles0%10%50%90%100%Articuno0.000.002.008.0056.00Lugia0.000.002.007.0066.00Moltres0.000.002.008.0052.00Zapdos0.000.003.0012.0082.00 Breakdown by Legendaries CaughtTotals: Here is a chart breaking down the percentage of players who caught none of the legendaries, one of the legendaries, two of the legendaries, and so forth. One Legendary: Here is a chart which indicates that, among the players who only caught one legendary, which one they caught. Two Legendaries: Here is a chart indicating that, among the players who caught two of the legendaries, which ones they caught.Three Legendaries: Here is a chart which shows, among the players who caught three of the legendaries, which ones they caught. AnalysisRaw numbers: Zapdos is the overall winner in terms of sheer numbers. Players won more Zapdos raids and caught more Zapdos than any other legendary. Articuno, Moltres, and Lugia were very close together in their numbers in terms of raids won. This is evident in both the totals and per-player numbers.Success rate: Zapdos is again the winner here. Players had nearly a 66% success rate with catching Zapdos, far more than the next closest, which was Moltres at 51%.Why the disparity in raid participation and victories? It could be a number of reasons—Zapdos is the favorite of the trio, it has heightened value as a beefy electric type, etc. In any event, Zapdos brought out more players, who beat it more than any other legendary. Why the disparity in success rate? Again, hard to say based on the numbers alone. The data shows a progression in success rate as the legendaries progressed from Articuno, to Moltres, to Zapdos. It could be that players got better at throwing curveballs and landing great and excellent throws as time went on. It could be that the placement of Zapdos, coupled with its attack animation, made it easier to land the throws needed to catch it.Thanks again for participating in the survey! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2vGItSV
