"[Discussion] I feel like medals were massive wasted potential to make a good player progression system"

#PokemonGO: We all know that common pokemon are a chore and a pain in the ass to catch. 400 cp rats needing great balls, Furrets needing ultra balls and razz berries etc...There is nothing inherently wrong with this system except for one thing. The player is not rewarded for going to the effort. Now you may say "but you get stardust for catching pokemon", which is true, but you need more and more as you progress, and if anything, pokemon get harder to catch with worse rewards to reap. This is where the potential of metals could have shined. Perhaps catching 200 of a type of pokemon could give a tangible reward, such as double catch rate for that type.I feel like this would reward the level 30 players by making common pokemon a cinch to catch, so we can limit our resource consumption (and oh, i don't know, have fun CATCHING POKEMON???). And before you tell me "but they do give a catch bon-" Ill stop you. The catch bonus it gives is worthless. It may raise chances by like 1%. Shh. via /r/pokemongo http://ift.tt/2xD4plb
