"Mewtwo Focus Blast one-shotting not just Tyrannitar: Extremely important Defensive Breakpoint?"
#PokemonGO: The conventional wisdom is that you use Ttar against every Mewtwo variant except Focus Blast, because the double weakness results in a 1-shot from Focus Blast. And assuming the dodge bug will kill you even if you dodge, he's not an ideal attacker.Conventional wisdom is that Dragonite and Gyarados, by virtue of being Pokemon that most people have on their roster at a high level, are the next best counters because they combine high damage with resistance to Focus Blast because of their part flying types.I was poking around Pokebattler and put in my box into the raid simulations against a C/FB Mewtwo. I opened up the logs for the simulations and unless I'm reading this wrong, my Dragonites (level 32 to 30) are also getting one-shot by the first Focus Blast. Gyarados (both 31.5) survive FB but get killed by the next confusion, but I assume that a slightly lower Gyarados will get one-shot as well. Which means neither of these monsters, unless they reach a certain defensive breakpoint, will resist a FB oneshot, making them not much better (or not better at all) than just using a Tyranitar glass cannon. Has this been discussed? Should it be? If you can find out the defensive breakpoint that allows you to dodge a Focus Blast (which as a 1-charge move, should be easy to dodge), it would do wonders for making sure your lineup survives the encounter without having to rejoin. What are the defensive breakpoints for Dragonite / Gyarados? My level 31.5 Gyaradoses seem to reach that point, just barely. My Dragonites are on the wrong side -- how much more would I need to make it un-oneshottable? Defensive breakpoints could ironically be a bigger deal than the more-often-touted offensive breakpoints in this situation. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2x2OITy
