"Remote Berry Feeding Effectiveness"

#PokemonGO: I ran several measurements today to quantitate the effects of remote berry feeding. Although golden razz berries restore CP to 100%, I wanted a quantitative measure of feeding other berries. Some of this may have been known already, but I couldn't find it with a search and wanted to compile observations nonetheless. The main conclusion: standard feeding results in each berry increasing CP by a specific percentage of the Pokemon's max CP with decreased effectiveness after each berry. The numbers by berry (for razz and pinap):1) 2.99+/-0.00%2) 1.20+/-0.00%3) 0.59+/-0.01%4) 0.29+/-0.02%5) 0.24+/-0.02%6) 0.19+/-0.01%7) 0.19+/-0.02%8) 0.20+/-0.02%9) 0.19+/-0.01%10) 0.19+/-0.02% The very slightly variation occurs either from rounding or from small amounts of motivation decay that occurs while feeding. To summarize with rounded numbers, the sequential razz and pinap berry effectiveness is 3.00%, 1.20%, 0.60%, 0.30%, 0.25%, and 0.20% thereafter. Other notes:1) Distance did not appear to make a difference (caveat: within the range I tested, which varied within 1 km).2) Current CP did not alter berry effectiveness. The maximum CP is what matters.3) Pokemon and IVs did not appear to make a difference (caveat: only attempted two different Pokemon with different IVs).4) Nanab Razz and pinap berries have the same effect. Nanab berries have a 25% increased effect.5) Berry effectiveness resets after waiting the 30 minutes required before being able to feed the same Pokemon again.6) The sum effect of ten razz and/or pinap berries is only 6.3% of the maximum CP. The sum of ten nanab berries is 7.875%. The procedure:Recorded video of 8 total individual measurements with 2 different Pokemon at 3 different gyms. Of these measurements, 6 fit the pattern reported above. 2 measurements yielded slightly greater (~20-80%) increases during the first few berries. The increase appeared variable and the cause hard to identify. The count of berries fed did not increment on my screen, so I don't think this was the result of someone else feeding the same Pokemon. Sometimes the number increase notification appeared between berries I fed. This will require some follow up. I'm reporting the other cases (75% of total) as "standard" because they fit the same trend with very high reproducibility. tl;dr: Remote razz and pinap berry effectiveness increases CP by a fixed percentage of maximum CP: 3.00%, 1.20%, 0.60%, 0.30%, 0.25%, and 0.20% thereafter. Feeding 10 razz and/or pinap berries only recovers 6.3% of the total CP. Nanab berries are 25% more effective. Feeding 10 nanab berries only recovers 7.875% of the total CP Edit to add: Thanks to /u/TeamDogfight for reminding me of the thread that pointed to an increased effect of nanab berries from the game master file (http://ift.tt/2wT1O3V). I rechecked my videos and the increases I observed in my anomalous measurements were due to using nanab berries for part of the feeding. These improve effectiveness by 25%. The effect confused me because extra CP increase notifications sometimes accompanied those feedings. The original post has been modified accordingly. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2jeINFP
