"Do's and don't for a future double exp event"

#PokemonGO: I've picked pokemon GO again late august(lvl 18) and recently hit lvl 33.People around me are speculating there might be another double exp event at thanksgiving and since i wasn't around during previous 2x exp events i'm wondering what I should think about in preperation for a double exp event.
