"Pokémon Snap for Switch. A request to Nintendo, Gamefreak, Pokémon Company."

Pokémon Snap is nearly 20 years old and is a gem. It has always baffled me that this generally beloved classic Pokémon spin-off has never received the sequel treatment. When it was released for Wii on Virtual Console in 2007, I thought for sure that Nintendo was prepping the Wii consumers for a new iteration, incorporating motion controls and an updated roster of featured Pokémon up to Gen IV. In fact, I remember I personally only bought a Wii after that released. Snap 2 never came.Fast forward to the 3DS. Pokémon had gone through Gen V and out the other side by this time. There was an AR thing and a 3D Pokédex app released early on. A Nintendo Direct about Pokémon was announced, and showed off X and Y. No portable Snap using 3DS cameras or motion controls yet. X and Y did have photography spots though, where you could pose for shots of your customisable main character against various landmarks.Next came the Wii U, a home console with a tablet controller equipped with cameras, motion controls and seeming perfect to serve as a viewfinder for a Wii U Snap game. I still think that could have been a system moving killer app for Nintendo had they made the thing. They did the VC re-release again last year but nothing new came of it. Pokken Tournament was cool and all, but I was gutted after watching that announcement Pokémon Direct that it wasn't a new Snap.Next up, with the Wii U on its last legs, it was time for Sun and Moon. This time they threw in a Snap-lite minigame. I was excited to give it a go, and I did shoot all the available Pokémon, but it was very much a barebones system. The Pokémon were captive and alone in each environment and just moved in set patterns, maybe did a pose now and again. You were only graded on how central the Pokémon was to the picture you took. Now it's Switch time. We know that Nintendo plans to have Game Freak make the next main series Pokémon game for the Switch. With Pokémon Go and Gen VII having both been crazy popular and the Switch selling like hotcakes this year, I think it's about time Nintendo cashed in on a Snap reboot.Nowadays Pokémon is not a new fad as it was in 1999 but a 21 year old iconic staple of videogames. Snap 2 wouldn't need to be set on a generic Pokémon Island. It could visit classic locales from established Pokémon regions? (eg. Kanto stages set in Mt Moon/lavender town, Safari Zone and Victory Road. Johto stages set in Ilex Forest, Ecruteak City for the Burned Tower and Bell Tower and the Whirl Islands. Hoenn stages set in Mt. Chimney, Seafloor Cavern and Pokémon Contest Hall. I could go on and on here but I am probably already past most people's TL;DR thresholds as it is with this post.) Those imaginary places are as nostalgic to a lot of fans as the monsters themselves by now. They could take advantage of more modern AI processes and the sheer number of Pokémon around now to make stages less scripted, with rare Pokémon appearances, maybe even timed legendary events, to allow people to show off their unique shots on social media.I don't know how to reach out to the relevant parties to ask about this but I'd really appreciate knowing what people on here think about the topic?TL;DR: Pokémon Snap should totally get an updated Switch reboot. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2jHUJRq
