"[X-post] Excited for the new Pokemon games, let me introduce 2DSpi"

2DSpiWith no personal patients to soft reset 1000's of times to encounter a shiny pokemon, I decided to open up a refurbished 2DS ($60 on eBay) and make the electrical contacts to control the 2DS via GPIO to a raspberry pi.The code, written in python, goes through the dialog to enter a pokemon encounter, takes a picture of the encounter, compares to a previous image that was determined to not be shiny. If the image is sufficiently different, the loop breaks. Otherwise, the game is soft reset and the loop continues. I have currently caught 10 shiny legendaries on Omega Ruby (no Regice.... essentially identical colors). I'm hoping for no shiny lock on Ultra Sun/Moon! For future builds, this is worth noting that it was not required to remove the buttons as there are touch points (tp) on the PCB which also provide access to the button controls. Build 2, 'DSipi' has full button control in addition to raspberry pi control. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2ztDv0u
