"A reminder on how eggs work (from TSR Science and Research Division)"
#PokemonGO: Hello Travellers!Today, I want to dispel a frequent misunderstanding of an important egg mechanic. Most of you know this already but it may be worth to refresh your knowledge and bookmark this post for sharing with your fellow players who don't know it yet. Here we go:The Pokémon in an egg is decided by the server at the moment you spin a stop or gym. Then the server decides which shell (2 km, 5 km, or 10 km) to put on it. When you view the egg in your inventory, it shows the date when you received it.Once an egg hatches, the Pokémon inside is revealed. The date shown on the Pokémon details page is the date when it hatched. Confusing, right? This is why people often think they hatched a Pokémon that doesn’t hatch any more. Here is an analogy to help you remember this:Think about conception and birth. Conception is when you spin a stop and receive a Pokémon hidden in its shell. This is the moment when the Pokémon’s genetic makeup is decided and it cannot be changed afterwards. Birth is when the Pokémon hatches. This is the moment when you find out what it looks like and the date of its hatching becomes its birthday.Happy hatching and travel safe! via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2C1Xscn
