"Acting as a Pokemon League Champion for once"

So i just finished sun for the first time ( im late. I know ). As i was fighting the elite four, i thought to myself, “i wish that i could, as the player, act as the champion in a main series game for once, battling trainers to defend our title. To my surprise, as i re-challenged the elite four, no one was there to challenge for champion like in the other games.
