"Testing the new update with iOS/GO+"

#PokemonGO: Spent a couple hours with the kids walking around a pokestop high-dense area, testing out the new update with the GO+ on 3 phones:iPhone 8+ (11.2)iPhone 8 (11.2.1)iPhone 7 (11.2.1)Each GO+ had a new battery put in this morning. Some findings:Blue light/PokestopPressing and releasing the button once resulting in normal/expected behaviour.Pressing/releasing the button multiple times resulted in the stop spinning, but followed by red/error light on the GO+. The more the button is pressed, the longer the red/error light continues.Holding down the button doesn't do anything - you have to release the button for the pokestop to be spun. Also, holding down for a while, then releasing, seems to cause the red/error light to occur. Stop still spins though.Green light/Pokemon detectedPressing and releasing the button once resulting in normal/expected behaviour.Pressing/releasing the button multiple times resulted in normal behaviour for the most part - occasionally this seemed to speed up/skip the "catch" vibrations/white light, but no red/error lights resulted. However, pressing the button multiple times, "silencing" the vibrations, seems to put the GO+ to sleep for a bit. It took a while for the next pokemon to be detected.Holding down the button doesn't do anything - you have to release the button for the catch attempt.Yellow light/New Pokemon detected - only had one opportunity to test. Seemed to behave the same as the green light.Red light/ErrorWhen the red/error light occurs, pressing the button seemed to trigger more red/error lights. We were able to get have the red/error light occur for a while by repeatedly pressing the button.I suspect the changes that Niantic implemented are as follows:GO+ must be pressed and released for the spin/throwEach press/release is a seperate request to backend serverIf only one request, everything works fineIf multiple requests (in the case of pokestops), server sends back error messages, as the stop has already been spun. The more requests, the more error messages you getReacting to error light creates more error lights - possibly as deterrent for the "hold button down" techniqueSo, very short summary - just press/release the button once. It seems to work quite well if you do that. The above descriptions have been pretty consistent for the past couple hours, but I would love for others to test this out, just to confirm what my kids and I are seeing. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2kRI0s3
