"Wailmer/Wailord are NOT bulky defenders, worse than Butterfree/Crobat respectively"
#PokemonGO: Today I've seen several Wailmers pop up as gym defenders. Yes I know, they look cool, but a TSR user has likened Wailmer to Chansey, so I'm analysing SwagLord from a competitive standpoint.Meanwhile, Gamepress has stated that Wailmer's evolution "Wailord isn’t the worst addition to gyms either, sporting the 4th highest HP in the game and a naturally low motivation decay rate (due to its low CP). However, its bulk is compromised by double-digit Def."Here is a great example that size isn't everything.Effective bulk = Stamina stat multiplied by Defense StatWailmer: 260 HP * 68 Def = 17680 Bulk and 136 AttackButterfree: 120 HP * 151 Def = 18120 Bulk and 167 AttackBeedrill: 130 HP * 150 Def = 19650 Bulk and 169 AttackChansey: 500 HP * 176 Def = 88000 Bulk and 60 AttackWailord: 340 HP * 87 Def = 29580 Bulk and 175 AttackCrobat: 170 HP * 178 Def = 30260 Bulk and 178 AttackVaporeon: 260 HP * 177 Def = 46020 Bulk and 205 AttackBlissey: 510 HP * 229 Def = 116790 Bulk and 129 AttackIn bulk, 1 Wailord is roughly = (1/3) Chansey or (1/4) Blissey. In bulk, 1 Wailmer is exactly = (1/5) ChanseyCertainly Wailord "isn’t the worst addition to gyms" when you consider Magikarp, Feebas and Diglett. But if you want bulky Waters, don't use the whales. Vaporeon, Slowbro, Slowking, Walrein, Poliwrath, Cloyster, Milotic, Feraligatr all have higher bulk and higher Attack and no double weaknesses, but then of course they will have higher CP. Lapras also has much better bulk, resulting in higher CP but lower Attack. For Water types with higher bulk, no double weaknesses and lower CP (resulting in lower Attack than Wailord), you can pick from Azumarill, Dewgong, Lanturn and Ludicolo. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2DC2Ynt
