"Awesome Feature in Pokemon Crystal"

Like most pokemon trainers I picked up Pokemon Crystal when released on virtual console.As I started my journey, I got to the part of my character leaving New Bark Town after the incident with Silver and a NPC came up to me and offered to show me how to catch Pokemon. I got to choose between "Yes" and "No". Being a skeptic I choose the "No" option and lo and behold he told me a bit of dialogue and let me skip it.I was in shock when he let me pass by without the tutorial. This got me thinking, why would Game Freak remove this amazing feature? If they could add it to future games than the hand holding will definitely be reduced to those who are veterans in the Pokemon world.Any ideas as to why they would remove it?
