"Pokemon On Switch Should Be Like Black and White"

Generation V was the most excited I had been for Pokemon in a long time. It was the first time since Yellow that I got to experience an entirely new Pokedex and region. Instead of debating which old Pokemon should be included with the new ones, Game Freak decided to include only new Pokemon to catch. The excitement of figuring out what was good against what was crazy; there were no preconceived notions of a Pokemon being good or bad (although pre-release info influenced some tastes), and that played a huge part in my personal enjoyment of it. This decision to include an entirely new Pokedex made getting into competitive battling easier as well because the competitive scene needed to be reworked heavily due to the huge influx of new team possibilities.Not only a new Pokedex, but the emphasis on story was instrumental in making Black and White more memorable. Game Freak has been trying to reach that level of storytelling since then, and while Gen VI's story suffered I felt Gen VII was a step in the right direction. I appreciate criticisms of Team Plasma; they are flawed. N was a fantastic antagonist in that he kept raising the stakes against the player every time they battled. Cheren and Bianca were great motivators, too, seeing as they both wanted to continue on their journeys for different reasons. I wanted to hear their opinions on the happenings in Unova.Beyond these were various quality of life improvements that Game Freak decided to include such as making all TMs reusable, making battles a quicker experience, making multiplayer easier to access, and probably a few more I can't remember.I think if Pokemon on Switch presents itself as an entirely new Pokemon experience, further refines mechanics, provides the most seamless multiplayer experience they can, and tells a story people can genuinely care about, I think it would help revitalize the series like Game Freak wants without compromising the things that fans love about Pokemon.It will sell millions of copies no matter what, but I would love it if Game Freak took advantage of the opportunity they have with Pokémon right now. via /r/pokemon http://ift.tt/2FmdpMA
