"Question: What Determines Being Blocked from Adding a Defender in a Gym under Attack?"

#PokemonGO: At first I thought that you couldn't add a defender if a gym was under attack, but soon I noticed Pokemon were being added. I asked on this board, and was told that someone can add defenders until at least one defender has been knocked out of the gym.Well, the other day I was taking down a gym and had knocked out two defenders. I took them down first because they belonged to someone who is infamous for throwing in Golden Berries and I wanted to eliminate them before they noticed their defenders were under attack. Once that was done, I continued on to the other four (the gym had been full), and about halfway through, I noticed a Vaporeon had been added—not just after I knocked out two defenders, but after I had gone on to complete a whole round and come back for the second go at the remaining four.So, what IS the cutoff for adding a defender?
