"For the Dratini community event, It appears that there was a far greater traffic of players than what Niantic was anticipating, resulting in a variety of network errors and lag making the game unplayable, eventually making Niantic to extend it for 3+hrs in Asiapacific, this could be due to..."

#PokemonGO: Niantic announcing the event well in advance of a month before the event allowing trainers to schedule around the event. The recent in game news changes allowing very casual players to keep track of the events and not to miss the event. The event being Dratini/Dragonite - still one of the most powerful and rare mons. Even most trainers in the high 30 levels, who have been regularly playing didn’t have Golden dragon tamer so it made far more trainers to show up for the event to not only just catch a shiny Dratini but also to complete the Dragon tamer badge.I think the only other Pokémon that can match this level of interest is Evee as 1. It’s Evee 2. It can currently evolve in to 5 mons and a few other in the future. 3. To give you a good chance of evolving into each of the 5 mons you need to catch at least around 5/6 shinies or more as the vapareon/Flareon/jolteon can no longer be controlled and are random apart from Espeon/Umbreon that can be controlled via buddy evolution.Even in Tokyo the amount of trainers(and the network/login issues) that showed up reminded of the early release days. How was it your community? What other community day Pokémon do you think that can have such impact as this event? via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2HK2xtf
