"How about a gym for each gen in the next game?"

With generation 8 coming up in a year or five it seems like the perfect time to tweak the gym formula a bit away from the one type gym and over to something different.With 8 gens and normally 8 gyms I think it’s an interesting twist if every gym based on one gen. Each leader could be a prominent character from the generation it’s representing, i.e Cynthia from Gen 4 or Lillie from Gen 7.The teams would be more balanced with less boundaries to what Pokémon could be fielded. The mons could cover each other’s weaknesses and therefore make the battles a bit more challenging.With the next game hopefully being more open world and non-linear, I think it would be easier to scale the gym leaders with this formula than the type one. Adding extra Pokémon for extra coverage if the player chooses to challenge the gym later in the game feels more natural when it can be chosen from a more diverse pool than just dual types.So what kind of teams would you be excited to see?
