"Prediction for the next Community day: Venusaur will be able to learn Grass Knot or Power Whip by evolving Ivysaur, and both of those moves might be slightly better than Solar Beam"

#PokemonGO: First, it's quite possible that Venusaur will be able to learn a new move in the same way Dragonite was able to learn a new move - by evolving its previous stage.Second, just as Draco Meteor was already in the game, it seems most likely that this new move will also be one of those already included in the game.Third, Grass Knot and Power Whip are two moves Venusaur was able to learn in the original games, and they are already in Pokemon Go. Unfortunately, currently only Tangela and Cacturne (out of final grass type pokemon's stages) can learn one of them, while the other is Tangela's legacy move. That's probably why trainers don't consider them when thinking about Grass type charged moves. Niantic has made Solar Beam practically the only option in that regard, because that's the only good Grass type charged move which viable grass types can learn. However, Grass Knot and Power Whip might actually be better in battles than Solar Beam, considering they are like a Dynamic Punch of grass type charged moves (they are even 0.1 second faster):Grass KnotPower WhipDynamic PunchSolar BeamBase Power909090180Duration (s)2.62.62.74.9Bars2221Granted, Dynamic Punch doesn't have much of a competition among Fighting type charged moves. Focus Blast is way worse (not to mention Close Combat), so Dynamic Punch is an obvious winner there. Solar Beam is a worthy opponent among Grass type charged moves, and is indeed an extremely powerful move itself, so the race for the best Grass type charged move is very tight (I wouldn't even write off Leaf Blade!).However, I'd much rather use Grass Knot or Power Whip than Solar Beam for well-known reasons. The most important one is - no waste of energy. I am sure a lot of situations will arise where you will be able to use 3 or 4 Grass Knots / Power Whips but only 1 Solar Beam, where you'll be able to use 5 or 6 Grass Knots / Power Whips instead of 2 Solar Beams etc.Vacuum DPS is on Solar Beam's side, but battle DPS should be on Grass Knot / Power Whip's side. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://ift.tt/2HYbOOr
