"Explaining how the 10 minute slotting cooldown is apparently 'avoided'"

#PokemonGO: NOTE: this post has been edited from the part of "At 7:13pm". Please re-read the later parts if you haven't seen that sentence before. Most of you should already know that when you kick out one Pokemon from a gym (let's say Valor), there is a 10 minute period where nobody else from Valor can slot a Pokemon into the gym. Also, there is no refresh of the 10 minute cooldown timer if a second Pokemon is kicked out within the first 10 minutes. But there are instances where people can slot in their Pokemon less than 10 minutes after one Pokemon is kicked out. (Examples one and two) I will seek to explain this.Assume from 5.00pm, the gym is originally held by ValorAt 7.00pm, the gym is attacked by MysticAt 7.03pm, the first Valor Pokemon is kicked out, starting the cooldown period of 10 minutes until 7.13pmAt 7.09pm, all Valor Pokemon are kicked out, Mystic slots into and fills the gym fully. But Valor counterattacks against MysticAt 7.11pm, Valor kicks out the first Mystic Pokemon out of the gym.At 7.13pm, Mystic slots back. Why?This is because the original cooldown timer from 7.03pm to 7.13pm still applies, preventing a new cooldown timer from starting at 7.11pm. Thus allowing Pokemon to be added within 2 minutes of kickout (7:11pm to 7:13pm) once the original cooldown is up.Valor players cannot slot back into the empty gym at 7.09pm. The only way Valor can end the original timer early is if a Valor player defeats the whole gym before 7.13pm.A new cooldown timer against Mystic players can only start after the original cooldown has ended. So, if a Mystic Pokemon is kicked out at 7.14pm, then there will be a new timer against Mystic until 7.24pm.I hope this adequately explains why some players are apparently circumventing the 10 minute cooldown.Lesson: if you just took down a gym and then are kicked out, you may re-slot after 10 minutes of the original gym's first kick-out if that mark was not already passed at the point of your kick-out. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2FpOxmh
