"[Guide] Want to find Game Master changes yourself?"

#PokemonGO: It's a common question producing threads of its own, and within comments on any "Game Down" thread, people are asking if the game master has changed. You can answer that yourself.tl;dr: Download a text editor more powerful than Notepad; install a plugin if necessary to Compare files; download a command line software for transforming the game master into something human-readable. Necessary links are below.First, I recommend getting a powerful text editor. I personally use Notepad++. Within Notepad++, you can install Plugins with a built-in Plugin Manager -- get one called "Compare". We'll use this when we get our two game masters.Next, follow this guide for extracting the game master: https://ift.tt/2Cwp6BH a little intimidating as a novice, and I don't know the process for iOS; if someone knows and can share it, it'll be appreciated and I can edit into this post. But once you familiarize yourself with the process, it's quite easy. I can flip the game master over to my PC via bluetooth within 30 seconds doing it manually, and run the script within another 30 seconds manually.Tip: If your Command Prompt doesn't support using Ctrl+v to paste the file name in there, check if there is a Paste action inside the button on the top left corner, often under Edit. Makes this much easier than typing out the hexadecimal file name.Save a copy of the game master as a reference file.Next, wait for the game to go down! Or however long you want until you're curious about what may have changed in the game master.Repeat the process for getting the game master, using the new file found on your phone in the directory the GoHub guide lists. Paste that into a new file on Notepad++ (you technically don't even need to save it). If it's not already, open the reference file as well (the older gamemaster). While the reference file is open, click on Plugins -> Compare -> Set as First to Compare. Then click on the new file. Click on Plugins -> Compare -> Compare. You'll then see a nice comparison nav bar pop up on the right hand side. This draws horizontal lines that show you where changes were made. If you only see a colored line at the very bottom, this was just the timestamp of the game master being changed (it always does that). There were no other changes. Otherwise, scroll to the colored lines and check out what's been changed! When you're done comparing, you can go to Plugins -> Compare -> Clear All Compares. If there was a change, I'd save the new file as the reference file for comparing at a future date. There are definitely many other tools out there for doing comparisons between two files, but this is one I found and like.Edit: One clarifying piece of information that I left out: The game master cannot download itself. Launch Pokemon Go to have a new game master downloaded prior to trying to do any comparisons, then jump into the files to copy over to PC. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2CuuLbg
