"Are IVs Over-emphasised?"
#PokemonGO: Just out of interest, are some of us seeing IVs as the be all and end all? I've seen a few people telling beginners to not bother evolving anything under 90% IV, which I personally find to be quite bad advice. A new player isn't going to be short manning raids (the only time IVs matter) and for the price of evolving one 90% pokemon (which could take a long time to find) and then powering up, they could have caught a number of weather boosted counters at Level 30+ for zero star dust and candy investment (apart from candy to evolve).I know weather boosted pokemon are only at their maximum once a player hits level 30, but with friendships it takes no time now to reach Level 30. Even in the mid 20s trainer level, a number of wild caught mid to high 20s level pokemon are going to be much better than that Level 5 98% IV pokemon that is sitting there waiting for dust and candies.Am I missing something? I tend to get downvoted when I say that IVs are less important than movesets and pokemon level, or am I the one giving bad advice?Of course once you've got counters, then you can start investing in higher IV pokemon, but sitting back waiting and hoping for a high IV counter to present itself (and getting it to a useable level) sounds rather counter-intuitive. After all, 4 70% IV Machamps are going to do a lot more damage than 1 90% Machamp. You can always replace the lower IV Machamps with higher IV as you progress through the game via /r/pokemongo https://ift.tt/2Aayxnk
