"Pokemon Go really shouldn't be called an "AR game". The correct term is "Geospatial"."
#PokemonGO: Definition of AR: "a technology that superimposes a computer-generated image on a user's view of the real world, thus providing a composite view"While Pokemon Go does include actual AR in it, we all know it's more of an optional gimmick rather than the core feature of the game. The core feature of the game; using a rendered representation of our real world based on data (google maps) and super imposing computer generated images (pokemon) on the computer generated reinterpretation of that real life data, is actually called "Geospatial" and was a technology used in other similar games like Geocash and Parrelel Kingdoms. As a developer in the AR space, I just needed to get that pet peeve off my chest. That is all.
