"Whenever Community Day is worth playing, it can't be played. Time for a new approach?"
#PokemonGO: Without fail, if the CD mon or bonus is worth getting, the game experiences massive issues in APAC.Replacement days and hours are the least that Niantic can do, but it really doesn't solve the root of the problem. First, it is disrespectful to people's time. Our lives don't revolve around the game, and if we have carved out 3 hours, we should not get 1 and forfeit the other 2 when we have other things to do.Secondly, Niantic have had 11 tries, and continue to underestimate server capacity (if this is the problem). We know spoofers will take part, and if Niantic doesn't want to take action, fine, then can we please have another way of doing this? I refuse to believe that they can host Europe and Americas without issue but make the same poor calculation for APAC again and again (I mean, they are doing so, but perhaps for reasons we don't know.)So why not a new approach?Another poster suggested "opting in" to specific times, and that sounds like a practical and implementable solution. Why not, a week before Community Day, all players are sent an in-game invitation. They then select the time they wish to play between 9-6pm (I'd go later, but Niantic caps EX Raids at these times too.)For the 3 hours the player has selected, they see the CD mon spawns. Before and after, these spawns are invisible. (They already do this for those on shadow bans, so they can implement it with a flag.) If players do not respond, they are given the default timing that we currently experience. The exclusive move should be obtainable throughout the day from 9-6pm or even the entire 24 hours. There is no reason to force players to evolve within a certain timeframe given that evolving is hardly interaction with the game. If Niantic wants players to go out and catch, they will have already done so.Lastly, they should implement a Community Day TM- this should be set in "Special Research" where every 20 CD Pokemon are caught, the player is able to claim a TM for that specific Pokemon. This means that players who have high IV evolved Pokemon both must engage with the game to get the move but are also not punished for evolving their Pokemon beforehand.Niantic's concerns have seemingly surrounded players not engaging in Community Day, but with these features, players will both engage with their communities (in fact, maybe moreso as they agree on a time to play that they can make) and the game without punishing anyone for it. But most of all, from even my limited programming experience, this is implementable as they have coded similar for other events/bans/issues etc. before.TLDR; Choose your 3 hours to play during CD, exclusive move obtainable for the whole day, CD TM in Special Research. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2z1R0Te
