I have 2.I love the theory that Butterfree was originally supposed to be Venonat's evolution, I mean look at the two, there is no denying how similar they look, much more so than Venonat and Venomoth. The idea that Venomoth was also meant to be Metapod's evolution and the two designs got accidentally swapped isn't quite as convincing to me, they look slightly similar, but the resemblance is nowhere near as clear as Venonat and Butterfree, even if we ignore the color scheme. Still I'm certain that they took Venonat's evolution and repurposed it for Metapod's evolution.The other theory I love is that Ditto is a failed clone of Mew. The idea checks out, you find Ditto in the Pokemon mansion, the same place where the experiments on Mew's DNA that resulted in Mewtwo took place. Ditto and Mew are the same weight, they share the same color schemes in both standard and shiny forms, and they're the only Pokemon that learn transform. Furthermore, all Ditto is is a blob without any real form, not hard to imagine it being abandoned in one of those cloning tubes, thought to never have had any life by the humans trying to recreate Mew. via /r/pokemon https://ift.tt/2QoL7ub
