"Pokémon Go and Complexity"

#PokemonGO: Can someone ELI5 why Pokémon Go recently seems to cop out and add simple solutions to the more complex game mechanics of the main series? Now I'm not talking about the lack of held items, abilities or status moves - that's part of the game and is part of how Go works. I'm talking about things like:Castform not changing dynamically with the weatherHaving no way to evolve Pikachu/exeggcute/cubone into their alolan evolutionsSpinda's spot patterns being reduced from 4 billion to 8.Shedinja being a special research reward instead of appearing when Nincada evolvesMy suspicion is that any Pokémon with dynamic forms will also be fixed in Go (Giratina, Deoxys, Arceus etc)Myself and other main series fans are always disappointed when this kind of thing happens. It's fun to speculate how they'll handle stuff like this, and then "oh... They just released it through special research/raids". Going forward this has implications for other mechanics. There's a few gen 4 evos that like the alolan example are location based in the main series, are they just going to cop out and add them as raid bosses/rewards? Rip all the magneton candy people have saved. Now it's not to say that they cop out all the time on complexity, the way they handled Ditto and Slaking was good.I've been wondering - is it a coding issue with Niantic apparently not being able to do what Game Freak did on GBA hardware. Or is it because Niantic want to keep things as simple as possible? If the latter then I think it has gone too far. via /r/TheSilphRoad https://ift.tt/2qf0FB9
