"Follow-up on the currently available shinies Megathread: what we still need"

#PokemonGO: After the shiny Krabby issue and subsequent doubts about shiny Magnemite, two days ago I posted a Megathread asking travelers to provide evidence of their recent shiny captures; in particular, I requested screenshots of any shiny Pokémon players might had obtained from Jan. 1 onwards. There are a couple of reasons why I chose this day as the cut-off; firstly, it gave a reasonable span for the capture (i.e., more than a week); secondly, it let me easily verify screenshots -- as I just needed to spot a 9 at the end of the date, without messing with non-consistent notation (MM/DD/YYYY vs. DD/MM/YYYY), and allowing for somewhat imprecise images having the menu icon covering part of the timestamp. In a somewhat remarkably short amount of time, we managed to confirm that every shiny released in the game had been obtained by at least one traveler on or later than Jan. 1 -- except for Magnemite. However, we also noticed that nobody could come up with a screenshot of a shiny Misdreavus caught later than Jan. 2; since the species is not that rare, this led to the worry that some further issue might have occurred at the end of the Holiday event. The latter event ended on Jan. 2, 1pm PDT; this means that it ended on Jan. 3, 9am at the world's farthest forward time zone (i.e., Kiritimati, UTC+14). Therefore, any screenshot displaying a capture date of Jan. 4 or later proves that the Pokémon has been obtained after the end of the event; as for Jan. 3 screenshots, we instead have to look at timezones.I went back and re-checked the screenshots I had included into the thread; leaving aside hatches (which pose different issues, as we would need to verify the date on which the egg was obtained, and which anyway seem reasonably confirmed) they all showed captures made on Jan. 4 or later, except for the following:Articuno; capture date: Jan. 2. I did however find several reports of recently caught shiny Articuno on Twitter -- none of which displaying the capture date, but some allegedly obtained on or after Jan. 4; EDIT: report of a shiny Articuno caught on Jan. 10 -- h/t u/ILikeShinySnorlax;Aron; capture date: Jan. 3. The capture location is however Windsor, ON, Canada, so the Pokémon was obtained after the end of the Holiday event;Charmander; capture date: Jan. 2. I did however find several reports of recently caught shiny Charmander on Twitter -- none of which displaying the capture date, but some allegedly obtained on or after Jan. 4; EDIT: report of a shiny Charmander caught on Jan. 8 -- h/t u/Pyrotic8696;Cyndaquil; capture date: Jan. 2. I have been unable to locate any report on Reddit, Twitter or Instagram of a shiny Cyndaquil obtained after the end of the Holiday event;Ho-Oh; capture date: Jan. 1. I did however find several reports of recently caught shiny Ho-Oh on Twitter -- none of which displaying the capture date, but some allegedly obtained on or after Jan. 4; EDIT: report of a shiny Ho-Oh caught on Jan. 11 -- h/t u/allansunny;Houndour; capture date: Jan. 3. The capture location is however Milano, Lombardia, Italy, so the Pokémon was obtained after the end of the Holiday event;Misdreavus; capture date Jan. 1; I have been unable to locate any report on Reddit, Twitter or Instagram of a shiny Misdreavus obtained after the end of the Holiday event;Nidoran F; capture date: Jan. 3. The capture location is however Troy, Michigan, US, so the Pokémon was obtained after the end of the Holiday event;Pikachu; capture date: Jan. 3. The capture location is however Assen, Drenthe, Nederland, so the Pokémon was obtained after the end of the Holiday event (it does lack the hat);Pineco; capture date: Jan. 1. However, a friend of mine has caught one on Jan. 3 in Italy, so when the event had already ended;Pinsir; capture date: Jan. 3. The capture location is however Downingtown, PA, US, so the Pokémon was obtained after the end of the Holiday event;Sandshrew; capture date: Jan. 2. I did however find a couple of reports of recently caught shiny Sandshrew on Twitter -- none of which displaying the capture date, but some allegedly obtained on or after Jan. 4; EDIT: report of a shiny Sandshrew caught on Jan. 8 -- h/t u/Muirton;Wingull; capture date: Jan. 3. The capture location is however Fremont, California, US, so the Pokémon was obtained after the end of the Holiday event. For the sake of completeness, I will welcome any additional screenshots of shiny Articuno, Charmander, Ho-Oh, and Sandshrew with a capture date of Jan. 4 or later. EDIT: all of these have been confirmed. However, with reports of shiny Magnemite caught on Jan. 9 or later now pouring in, the real rebels we seem to be left with are two: Cyndaquil and Misdreavus. I've seen a bit of -- totally understandable -- confusion in the comment sections during the past few days, so my goal here is that of clarifying things a bit; what we still need are screenshots of a shiny Misdreavus or Cyndaquill caught after the end of the Holiday event -- that is, displaying either Jan. 4 as the capture date, or Jan. 3, but with a capture location in which the event had ended on Jan. 2 (to my knowledge, none have been provided since the Megathread has been up). Please comment below or otherwise contact me if you think something I have written is incorrect (I am especially bad with timezones). I'll take the opportunity to thank once again all the travelers who have showered me with reports and messages in the past few days; you really are a bunch of lovely people. via /r/TheSilphRoad http://bit.ly/2M7wRjY
