"Getting to know your community."

#PokemonGO: It occurred to me this morning how much I've indirectly learned about people while playing this game over the past year - since raiding, friendships and trading became a thing.​I play with people who are way better off than me. And people who are financially struggling.Who are much older than me and much younger.Who are from very different cultures than me.Who are using the game mostly for exercise or to battle depression.​When I picked up my phone and started playing again last summer, it never occurred to me that I'd meet so many people who exist outside my normal social circles. Who don't think like me, who don't live like me... And I have always thought I knew all kinds of folks. But this game has TRULY expanded my understanding of the people who live around me... and I've become good friends with many of them.​When played (especially in cities and diverse areas), this game has such incredible potential to help us understand the people around us.​Anyone else thought about this?
