"How are pokemon named?"

How do or did pokemon get their names? Were each species given names when they were created and that’s why all pokemon of that species know their names and can speak it? Did humans give them their names based on what the pokemon say? Or did humans make their names and pokemon just eventually learn their name and speak it like dogs do irl? Do genetics have something to do with it and that’s why all pokemon of a species know their name? Maybe pokemon who have never been caught don’t know their name or maybe they don’t know it until they grow up and learn it from humans.
