"Parent needing help"

My son is young and is just starting to show a passion for the Pokémon card game. He is too young to actually play, so he treats them as trading cards. I grew up with a vague knowledge of Pokémon, but I don’t know nearly enough on the subject. My parents never showed any interest in any of the things that I was into when I was little, and I definitely do not want to do the same to him. I was wanting to dive into one of the games on an emulator for pc. Do you guys have any recommendations for which game I should go for?
